Bench Book Committee Hands Over Report to CJ

The Bench Book Committee chaired by Hon. Justice J.W.N Tsekooko, on December 1,2017 handed over their report to the Hon. The Chief Justice at the High Court in Kampala.
The eight-member Committee reported that they had completed the tasks given by the Chief Justice. The Committee reviewed the Civil Justice Bench Book and were able to produce the Criminal Justice Bench Book, which was launched by the President during this year's Annual Judges Conference.
So far, 500 copies of each book have been distributed to all Judicial Officers and court libraries.
The Chief Justice awarded the committee members with certificates and plaques for a job well done.
They recommended to the Chief Justice that the 1st (present) Edition of the two Bench Books be reviewed after two years and subsequent editions be reviewed after every three years. This is subject to prevailing changes in our laws.
Other members of the Committee are Hon. Justice Richard Buteera (JA), Hon. Justice David Wangutusi (Head, Commercial Court), Mr. Frank Nigel (Director LDC), Ms.Ruth Sebatindira (Commissioner JSC), and Ms. Jane Okuo Kajuga (Ag. Assistant DPP), Mr. Didas Bakunzi (Head of department Law Reporting, Research, Law Reformat LDC) and HW Festo Nsenga (Ag. Registrar of Magistrates' Affairs and Data Management).
The Chief Justice established the Bench Book Committee was in 2015 through Office Instruction No.1 of 2015.
